As it observes, one of the biggest barriers to going global is language, as it is crucial to address international clients in their own language. According to a recent IDC study, web users are four times more likely to purchase from a site in their own language. However, businesses are warned that translation errors can be costly; Colgate, for example, introduced a toothpaste in France called Cue, which was also the name of a French adult magazine.
