Yorkshire Voices exhibition brings language to life

As the head office of Global Lingo is in Leeds, we’re very proud to be a member of the Yorkshire Dialect Society. So we were really interested to hear about the Yorkshire Voices exhibition at the University of Sheffield, which opened on 4th June and runs until 17th August.

Yorkshire Voices explores what it means to write in the Yorkshire dialect. Based on archive material generously donated by authors and their families, this exhibition celebrates the work of four very different writers. The exhibition really brings the Yorkshire dialect alive by featuring the writers speaking their own words.

Each of the writers covers a different time and a different part of the county, and they all have their own reasons for writing. But each captures something about the people of Yorkshire and the way they speak.

You can take in this fantastic exhibition at Western Bank Library, Exhibition Gallery, Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN.
