Interpreting for Legal Professionals

Poor interpretation in legal cases is a road that leads only to misunderstanding, frustration, delay and mounting costs. The word-for-word interpretation must be meticulous, cutting out the looseness and ambiguity. Therefore, Global Lingo exclusively uses professionally qualified interpreters with years of experience in the legal milieu. Global Lingo tolerates nothing less than 100% accuracy, and nor should you.

Sourcing the Appropriate Interpreters

The members of Global Lingo's project-management team are intimately familiar with their customer segments. Attuned as they are to the nuances of different demands, they can assign anything from the interpretation of oral evidence to interpreters for client meetings to the right specialist.

Of course, interpreting words is only one part of delivering an accurate legal service. As important is tackling the interpretation with an appreciation of the relevant legal systems, which is why we use in-country interpreters to eliminate confusion. Our project managers always determine the nature of the interpretation (for example, whether it's a criminal case or a corporate negotiation) before appointing an interpreter, thus matching needs, expertise and experience.

Confidentiality is Guaranteed

The strictest client confidentiality is one of our mantras. As well as the standard confidentiality agreements into which all of our interpreters are tied, we are happy to commit to any additional requirements you might have.

Case Study: Interpreting for Legal Professionals

Our client, a City law firm, was acting on behalf of a UK-based company in negotiation with a plant in Germany. As part of the negotiations, a German lawyer travelled to London for a series of meetings. As the German lawyer was not confident in his English for such high-level discussion, our client contacted us for an interpreter. The meetings were ongoing, so we were able to provide the same interpreter to attend each one. This was particularly important due to the confidential nature of the discussions. The particular industry involved was quite technical, but we were also able to ensure that our interpreter had several years’ experience in the subject matter.
