Human Resources Transcription
A major grievance case had just been brought before our client, a Human Resources manager at a major FTSE 100 company. This would entail interviewing all the individuals involved or named in the grievance, and transcripts of all the interviews would be needed for the case documentation. Confidentiality was a concern due to the sensitive nature of the case, so our client expressed a preference for having the same transcriber attend all the interviews.
With Global Lingo’s extensive writer base in London, this was not a problem. Our client also required each of the transcripts to be returned no later than the following morning so that they could be cross‑referenced with subsequent interviews, but we were able to meet this urgent turnaround.
Specialist HR Summaries
Our client, a leading FTSE 100 company, needed a more efficient solution for minuting meetings of its employee forum. Previously, a secretary had sat in on the meetings and taken notes. However, this had put a tremendous strain on the secretary and it had taken weeks to prepare the minutes. Global Lingo was able to provide a professional minutes taker, returning the polished and accurate minutes to a much tighter deadline. Our client was so impressed with this service that we now minute all of the organisation’s HR meetings, from the forums to grievance hearings.
Human Resouces Translation
Our client, the HR department of a blue-chip IT consultancy, was planning a major restructuring of its European workforce. Affecting over 5,000 employees, all existing job descriptions, line reports and competencies would be rewritten. This would be consolidated in a matrix document, which had to be translated from English into four languages.
The style of the matrix document called for translators skilled in word processing as well as the complex terminology. Global Lingo was able to undertake this project with confidence, using teams of experienced translators for each language led by a project manager to deliver the translations to budget and on time.
Interpreting for HR Professionals
When a Human Resources manager was trying to organise the first meeting of a European Works Council, she approached us for support. She was so impressed by our service that she retained us after the first meeting to cover each of the ongoing EWC meetings.
The delegates for the meeting were drawn from eight countries, but not everyone spoke English. Therefore, we assembled a team of interpreters for the required language combinations, with all the interpreters having several years’ experience of industrial-relations negotiation.
Our interpreters were also willing to interpret during the social events around the negotiations, which made the meeting much more enjoyable for all involved. Again, we were able to secure the same interpreters for each subsequent meeting, which was to our client’s delight.
Global Lingo was also able to provide all the necessary equipment for the interpreting team. At the hotel venue, we set up soundproof booths for the interpreters at the back of the room, who communicated to the delegates through infrared equipment (our client was pleased not to have wires all over their desks).
