If children aren’t exposed regularly to a second language before they reach one year old, their ability to be bilingual is massively reduced.
Those are the findings of a study co-authored by Patricia Kuhl, professor of speech and hearing sciences and co-director of the Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences at the University of Washington, reported in Wired Magazine.
This got me thinking: What percentage of the translators and interpreters we employ were raised in multilingual households?
