According to research by Bloomberg, Mandarin, China’s official spoken language, is the top language worldwide for business other than English.
Mandarin is spoken by 845 million people, and scored highest in a ranking of languages, excluding English, based on business usefulness.
Mandarin is not a written language and there are only two written forms of Chinese: Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Simplified Chinese is the official written language, created by the government of China to help increase the literacy rate in the population. This is the written form most Mandarin speakers are able to read.
The research scored languages according to the number of speakers, countries where the language is official, populations, financial power, education and literacy rates.
