Global Lingo at the Insider International Trade Awards

Written by on

I was lucky to be invited to attend last night’s Insider International Trade Awards at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, along with Stephen Hale, our Head of Translation Production. I think we managed to brush up pretty well!

International Trade Awards 2013

It was really great to hear how businesses – large and small – have worked hard not just on the commercial side of the organisation, but have ensured that they have the right company culture in place to guarantee that their growth is sustainable over a long period of time.

Taking care of the culture

We are fully aware how culture can affect a business and how carefully these things have to be handled when translating that culture to overseas operations. Last night’s winners gave some brilliant insight into the different ways they have applied, or even not applied, their culture from the UK. The big message was that culture comes from the top of the business because, if the owners don’t believe in it, the rest of the organisation won’t adopt it.

Congratulations to all the winners

Here’s a quick rundown of all the winners and those who made the short list. Well done to everyone.

The big winner of the night was Firth Rixon, picking up the Grand Prix Award and the Large Manufacturer Award. The forging and speciality metals business, based in Sheffield, has seen record sales in the UK and 40% growth in export sales.
